Daily Dollfaces

I usually like Kate Hudson's style but I'm staying far away from wearing a ROMPER!

Ivanka Trump's legs may be orange and her fake boobs very big, but I like her. She's smart, has a good sense of humor and never spent too much time coasting by as a socialite with an agenda for parties and sleeping around.

Heidi Klum, pregnant with her fourth baby and wearing those shoes? Yikes, I'd be in slippers or Crocs.

Teeny MK Olsen. Cute outfit although I'm not doing handsprings for the belt.

Jennifer Love "size 2" Hewitt. I'm not sure how I feel about the dress. She has a classic body shape, womanly and curvy. I think Shoshana dresses cater to that body type.

I always love when this issue hits the stands, or rather, my mailbox. I think Christina Applegate is adorable, I love watching Samantha Who? I'd like to see People stay away from the obvious picks though- we KNOW Brad and Angelina are gorgeous, Halle Berry makes the list every year and if George Clooney is on there yet again, I'm going to flip my proverbial wig.

I like to see how Cameron Diaz is aging. Is that wrong? We're about the same age and I want to see her wrinkles. Her body is in amazing shape though and I've given birth to two kids, you do the math.

She's got a great style. I'd wear that outfit.

I want to hang out with Matthew McCongaoghyy. I can never spell his last name so let's leave it at that. He seems like he could come over with a six pack and be happy to shoot pool and throw darts and maybe play a little Rockband on the Wii. Bongos optional.

Kelly Ripa has such a cute family. Her kids are a great blend of her and her husband. They are all stunning. Is she in the pages of People's Most Beautiful?

Here's Tori Spelling at the LA Time Festival of Books. Last time I went there, I got into a fender-bender in the parking garage. People get mean behind the wheel of a car! Anyway, I want to read her book Mommywood.

Cute baby bump! Nicole Richie's big toe always hang over the edge of her flip flop. I think pregnant women are adorable!

Could Julianne Hough be any cuter? She's got a great personality, amazing body, she's a talented dancer and singer. I'm bummed that she won't be back on Dancing with the Stars next season. I like her outfit, above. And the dog!

I am overwhelmed with the desire to pick all the stray hairs off Jennifer Aniston's black tank top. I want to know if she really works out for three hours a day?

Jennifer Garner cleans up really well or else she has a very talented makeup artist! Here she is at the door of the Letterman show. Her hair and makeup look fabulous. I hope to see Ghosts of Girlfriends Past this weekend. That's my kind of funny chick flick.

Not crazy about the dress but Eva Mendes is stunning. Hair and makeup look good, she can pull off any makeup colors because she has such a perfect complexion.

Lancome, Darais, and Orso

On Monday night I ventured to Orso in Los Angeles to meet up with Lancome's Celebrity Makeup Artist, Darais along with other beauty writers. I was the first one there which is always intimidating for me. I sat on the patio, reading the menu and sipping water until Darais walked in.

Darais is tall and tattooed, very hip and funky, just how I like my makeup artists. We chatted a bit and were joined by Amber from Beauty Junkies Unite. Soon Charli and Stacey from Daily Obsession came in, followed by Erin, a Lancome executive who reminded me of a raven haired Nicole Kidman, all pretty, thin and chic. Last to come in was Sarah from Beauty Banter. I couldn't tear my eyes away from Sarah's impossibly long, healthy, gorgeous hair.

Orso is amazing and I loved my food. Since I'm constantly watching each calorie with the dedication and discipline of a biblical scholar, I let loose and devoured fresh bread with Parmesan cheese, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The thin crust pizza ordered to share was consumed and digested before everyone got a slice. Don't ever try keeping me away from the fresh mozzarella, basil and tomato or you will be hurt. I'm sure you are drooling now. The main course was succulent veal with giant mushrooms. And dessert, which I can usually skip but not this time, was an Apricot tarte with creme fraiche. What a treat! For someone who is used to kid friendly restaurants with crayons and paper table cloths, Orso was a huge treat!

Now that we have that out of the way, I can tell you about Lancome's new products.
Not so terribly new but new to me is the vibrating mascara, officially named Oscillation. The photo of my eyes above, features this mascara lengthening and thickening my paltry lashes. The technique takes a minute to get the hang of and I find it easier to use the vibrating option on my lower lashes. All I do is stand there and let the mascara do its thing. The best remover for eye makeup is the BiFacil which took the mascara off easily when I arrived home.

Lancome's fountain of youth is the new Genifique, a multi-patented serum. It boosts the production of youth proteins and promises to make us all look like we have the skin of a newborn. It helps if you use a French accent when you say Genifique.
LaLacque Fever is a gloss that feels good not sticky, imparts great color, and lasts for hours! I wore it to the dentist yesterday and it lasted through a fancy tooth polishing and several beverages.

I learned that Juicy Tubes Pure is available now. Juicy Tubes have long been a favorite of many beauty loving ladies. The new version is almost 100% pure, contains shea butter and comes in beautiful sheer colors. I have to get my mitts on this!

Read up on Darais who is so talented. He's painted the faces of many top actresses and models. He's in demand! You can tell that he just LOVES what he does and is so passionate about it. I think that's the key to happiness, love what you do. And that's a beautiful thing.

Bethenny Frankel: Naturally Thin

I was heartbroken when the Real Housewives of Orange County ended. What would fill that void on Tuesday nights? Life as I knew it would end without my Bravo fix. Enter the Real Housewives of New York. I was hooked right away, connecting to Bethenny Frankel, her sarcasm and funny one-liners kept me watching week after week. I know tons of people feel the same way.

Bethenny is a natural foods chef who created the Skinny Girl Margarita, a line of healthy muffins called Bethenny Bakes and she wrote Naturally Thin - Unleash Your Skinnygirl™ and free Yourself From a Lifetime of Dieting. Millions of people are reading this book -its on the New York Times Best-Seller list!

Full of common sense ideas, tips and tricks, Naturally Thin outlines how to stay healthy in a way that's easy to follow. Always on the lookout for healthy meals to make, I look forward to cooking the recipes included in the book. Bethenny infuses Naturally Thin with her humor and down- to-earth personality which is probably why the book is selling like crazy. Everyone (except Kelly and you have to watch the show to get that reference) loves Bethenny! You can learn more about the fast growing Bethenny Frankel empire here.

Tell me what its like to be on television all across America every week? What, if any, are the downsides to being so recognizable?

It is wonderful to see so many people "get" me. People are inspired business-wise and losing weight, and I am making a difference. I love being recognized because people are receiving my message. The downside is not being able to go to starbucks in my pyjamas anymore (a new rule I break often).

Were you always interested in cooking and health? What made you decide to pursue Culinary School?

I am a health foodie. I love food and restaurants and dining and I am very concerned with health. Culinary school was meant to be a hobby while I was unfulfilled during an engagement to the wrong person.

What do you like to do in your free time besides those hilarious Jill Zarin imitations?

Truthfully, I like to sleep and do yoga, to test recipes and to love my dog cookie-nothing that cultural or fascinating. I do love to dance though. Hip hop music gets me going. I also love to snuggle.

If you could pass along one tip from your book to all of America, what would it be?

Your diet is a bank account. There are good investments and bad ones. If you have a good relationship with food, you can manage the checks and balances.

I want to learn more about Bethenny Bakes. How do you maintain freshness and flavor in the products when they are sold in stores?

The cookies have no eggs or dairy, so they last longer. The best bet is ordering them on http://www.bethenny.com/

You are a very successful woman. Was there a time when you thought about giving up on your goals? And what kept you on track?

There were many times when I thought getting married and being taken care of by a man was the only way that I could have a nice life, buy nice things, go on vacation and go out to dinner. However, every time I would be with that man, I couldn't sell out. I ultimately had no choice but to make it for myself which was very scary. Its different at 34/5 then for a 25 year old. You wonder how you will survive.

What keeps you humble in the face of so much success?

I know how hard it is to achieve your goals. I know where I came from and nothing was handed to me. I know that you do unto others as you'd have done to me. How could anyone be anything but humble? We are all immortal.

You have so many exciting things happening- including the launch of Skinny Girl Cocktails. What else can we expect from Bethenny Frankel?

I have 4 more books the first of which will launch in jan. There will be more tv for me, a line of skinnygirl candy (starting with stylish lollipops) and a whole skinnygirl brand of cooking utensils, activewear and everything a skinnygirl could want. This is just the beginning.

Read It! I LOVE books.

The Laws of Harmony by Judith Ryan Hendricks is a well-written novel about a woman who leaves her home in Albuquerque in search of a new life. Having been raised on a commune in New Mexico, the protagonist has issues with her mother which is sort of an ongoing theme in the book. Sunny Cooper's boyfriend is killed in a tragic accident which serves as the catalyst in Sunny's move to a tiny island off the coast of Washington. But of course, everything that she's run from comes back to her and life lessons abound.

Whacked by Jules Asner, I liked this one quite a bit. The heroine is slowly losing her mind as she comes to terms with her cheating, lying boyfriend. What she is driven to do will have you shaking your head, thinking...only in Hollywood. Its a fun page turner! I look forward to future novels from Jules.

Also to read is David Benioff's novel called City of Thieves. I need to be in the right state of mind for this book, as it looks serious and heavy. A book that has been sitting on my nightstand is The List, 100 Ways to Shake Up Your Life by Gail Belsky. I dip into this one when I need a little kick in the pants.

I always love a good memoir so I started reading Allegra Huston's book, Love Child: A Memoir of Family Lost and Found. Allegra is director John Huston's daughter and actress Anjelica Huston's half sister. I expect this one to really grip me.

I always have some kind of non -fiction book that I'm reading and this time its Talent is Overrated. I'm especially interested in learning how successful people reach their goals so this book is a must-read for me. I'm learning that no one has super powers, its all about hard work and discipline, Going above and beyond hard work, immersing yourself in what you want to excel at and this practice usually begins at a very young age. Thank goodness I have a head start, I've been writing since I was about five. That means I'm ready for my huge success now, right? I better keep reading.

Someone who knows about dedication, hard work and success is Dana Torres and her book, Age is Just a Number is sitting next to me, waiting to be picked up and read. Jen Lancaster has so many memoirs that Amazon has a Jen Lancaster store now. I will not be able to refuse the lure of Pretty in Plaid: A Life, a Witch, and a Wardrobe, or, the Wonder Years Before the Condescending,Egomaniacal, Self-Centered Smart Ass Phase. I will never remember the entire title.

I'm not doing a whole lot of interviews any more but I couldn't resist asking Bethenny Frankel about her best selling book, Naturally Thin: Unleash Your SkinnyGirl and Free Yourself from a Lifetime of Dieting. That interview is coming soon! Happy Reading...there is nothing better than a good book! Except of course, makeup.

Check it out, Boots!

Boots comes to us all the way from the United Kingdom. The company began in 1849 and has been growing steadily, introducing their line of products in the US just a few years ago. Known for great products at a reasonable cost, Boots offers many different items from lines such as Botanicals, No. 7, Expert and more.

I like the old fashioned look of the Body Wash and Bath Foam (above in the blue). The appeal for me is in the neat packaging and lettering. The smell of the Bergamot and Clary Sage Bath Foam is enough to send you running to start filling the tub for a hot, luxurious bath any time of the day.

Boots offers skin care from the Expert line, I particulary appreciate the Sensitive Gentle Smoothing Scrub and which is hypo-allergenic and fortified with aloe vera. No. 7 offers cosmetics, I tried the No. 7 Lip Glaze in Angel Cake, a shimmering tube of gloss that adds sparkle and moisture to the lips. Definitely a keeper.

My daughter took the shower gels for herself because they smell amazing. No shower is complete without using shower gel to soften skin and leave it smelling good, she's learned this at a young age. The Botanicals line contains plant extracts and was "created in consultation with the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, London." This line offers skincare, body care, hair and cosmetics, all containing plant based ingredients.

I am so excited to have the opportunity to test a variety of Boots products. I didn't realize there were so many branches of the Boots brand, giving everyone exactly what they need whether it be scented bath foam, natural skin care, or plant based body care. Boots is a brand you will want to pay special attention to next time you are in Target or CVS! Click here for much more information.

Chesapeake Bay Candle Reed Diffuser

Recently my son asked, "Remember Jack's house? Didn't it smell bad?" Indeed, the house smelled horrible- the worst concoction of pets, bad cooking, and dirty carpet. I never want people leaving my house, holding their noses making comments. I have candles throughout my home and in the room that is most used, I have the Chesapeake Bay Candle Reed Diffuser in the scent of white musk.

The musk oil smells good enough to dab on your pulse points and wear as perfume. It's a combination of sheer jasmine,, violet, a bit of mandarin and green notes. Add a splash of warm exotic woods as a base and you have this scent. It's not overpowering, you can sit in the room and it smells really good but not over the top. It also looks pretty sitting on my shelf, with the etched glass looking like a little piece of art.

Chesapeake Bay Candle offers all kinds of fragrances to suit your moods and preferences. I love a clean, warm smell but I know other people who liked their houses to smell like a freshly baked apple pie. You can view all the many products, including candles, reed diffusers, fragrance balls and more, by clicking here. Since Mother's Day is right around the corner, I think this would make a perfect gift for Mom!

Daily Dollfaces

Ashley Judd is so pretty, I love that she hasn't been hitting the botox needle. It doesn't look like she's been smoking from the juvaderm pipe either. Amazing! Could she be...aging gracefully?

Diane Kruger is gorgeous but she missed the mark with these puffy pantaloons.

Ali Larter's new movie got a real stinkbomb of a review. Too bad, it looked like it had potential.
Her hair is not working for me. She doesn't look like her usual stunning self. I think its the bangs.
I like the outfit but I'd change the red shoes to black ones. Its nearly impossible to match reds, except when you dye your prom shoes to match your dress. I read that Jennifer Lopez has a ton of wigs. Like Dolly Parton, you never see her real hair!
Look at those arms! No doubt Jessica Biel could take me down in a mud wrestling match.

I love Jennifer Aniston, I do. But I detest the title of her new movie, The Baster. The studio must come up with a better film title. If I put my mind to it, I think I could come up with something that sounds better. The Shish Kebob Skewer. See?
When asked how she lost the baby weight, Jennifer Garner replied, "I didn't, I just buy a bigger size!" Yes! A woman in Hollywood who is not starving herself!!

Halle Berry is cute in that spring dress but the uneven hem bothers me. I want to yank the side down so its all even.

Lady Gaga's heels are like ice cream cones. Her skirt is a giant cream puff.

Flawless makeup but I prefer Fergie with blonde hair.
She didn't ask my opinion but I'm giving it.

Chickdowntown Contest....

I've been looking for a long time for a beautiful flower ring. My favorite jewelry always has some kind of cool flair to it, like this ring! I want to keep it for myself but no, I can't do that. Instead this Caesars Designs ring is up for grabs for a lucky Hello Dollface reader, thanks to chickdowntown.com!

Be sure to head over to chickdowntown for all things fabulous including spring trends like those from MCQ clothing. Once you've perused chickdowntown, send me an email and tell me your favorite spring trend. Early next week, I will randomly select a winner.

If I had choose a spring item to own right this second, I'd pick this dress. It looks comfortable, flattering, and would match the silver sandals in my closet. I rarely wear shorts, preferring instead dresses and skirts!

Make sure you type RING in the subject line, include your full name and address, then send it to me at distressedbluejeans@gmail.com

AND CONGRATULATIONS TO Melissa who won the healthDropz/Wrinkle Arrest contest!

Sephora by OPI, Metro Chic

I headed to Sephora with a single mission in mind- find a nail polish. I wanted something kind of dark, muddy looking. I'm very into gray nails this season along with tangerine colored shirts and dresses. Every season I find a few things I desire and this time its the dark gray nails and brightly colored tops.

I beelined it straight to the Sephora by OPI display. Lo and behold, to what do my wondering eyes should appear but a muddy-gray polish! The name is Metro Chic and it couldn't be a better match to what I wanted.

The second I got home, I painted my nails, I couldn't wait. I almost painted them in the car but didnt want to risk an accident on the freeway because I was doing my nails. When I arrived at school to pick up the kids, I was chatting with another mom- {sidenote: she's very young, tall and model-glamorous} and I couldn't help but notice her nails. I exclaimed, "Your nails!... Metro Chic?" Indeed it was.

Looks good on fingers and toes, since its OPI, a brand with a good reputation, I expect the color to last a few days before chipping off. I keep looking at my nails, still loving the color. You can find it online or at a Sephora near you!

Read it, then watch it!

Simon Doonan is hilarious. Famous for being the eccentric window dresser at the world famous shopping hole, Barney New York, Simon has quite the life story. I read Nasty: My Family and Other Glamorous Varmints a while back and loved it. Funny, offbeat and a memoir, what could be better? I cannot believe I haven't read Beautiful People yet. Its on my book shelf, just waiting for me.

And now comes the tv show Beautiful People. I don't even know if I get LOGO network on my cable package. I'll have to look into that ASAP. I have high hopes for this show and expect it to be flashy, glam and side splittingly funny. Here is the official scoop on the show:

Told from Simon's perspective as a window dresser at the uber-glam Barneys New York fashion emporium, Simon takes us back to his unconventional childhood in Britain.13-year-old Simon is surrounded by dreams of hitting the big time and all the ‘beautiful people’ that go with it yet Simon can't open a fridge door without belting out a show tune. But such behavior will always fall flat on a family even more eccentric than Simon's latest attempts to be fabulous. Mum Debbie is a peroxide whirlwind of matriarchal warmth who has a passionate pride for husband Andy – a culture-savvy plumber/home-made winemaker. Simon's sister Ashlene is a wannabe hip hop queen, blind lodger Aunty Hayley has a guide-dog who is far from size zero, lobotomized grandma Narg has just lost God and replaced him with a foul mouth and best mate Kylie/Kyle aspires to be Reading's own Princess of Hearts.

“Beautiful People” struts a dazzling and sequined path through one boy's life and the realization that the beautiful people are always closer than we think. Watch the series on Logo and LOGOonline.com on Tuesday, May 26 2009 at 10:30 PM ET/PT.

Anthony Logistics for Kai

When I got this email in my inbox this morning, I felt I must post it. Imagine this poor little boy and his dad, both diagnosed with cancer. Sometimes I feel like my life is in the dumps - then I read this and am overwhelmed with gratitude that my family is healthy because really, that's all that matters !
"To commemorate the birth of his twin sons, Anthony Sosnick, founder of Anthony Logistics for Men, created a two-in-one product designed for the next generation of grooming-savvy men, a gentle cleanser for both hair and body with a formula does not sting the eyes. And now, the sale of this product can help make a significant difference in the life of one special child. From now through the end of May, 100% of profits through the sale of the Anthony For Little Men Foaming Hair and Body Wash will be donated to the Hope for Kai fund.

Kai, not even 5 years old, was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia and is in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant. At the same time, his father was also diagnosed with a rare type of Lymphoma. The medical costs for Kai’s treatment are enormous and more than his family can manage. ALFM supports Kai Anderson in his journey to find a donor and receive necessary treatment to fight the disease."

A Rose Romance

A Rose Romance will be available until June. So hurry up!

When I saw this collection, all I could think of was English country gardens, floaty summer dresses and spring days. The colors in A Rose Romance herald in the warmer days and lighter makeup. Soft lips and pink cheeks.

I tested the Lipglass in the shade of Virgin Kiss, a pale pink with pearly essence. I love this one because I'm addicted to light pink shades and can't get enough of pastel pink with high shine. MAC Lipglass is a favorite of everyone I know. This shade is bound to sell out so get to the MAC counter to get yours, stat!

See Thru Lip Color is a gel lip stain and it looks as though you've just eaten a Popsicle after you apply it. Lasting a long time, I think its best worn with a light shade of Lipglass over it. This product comes in three colors:
Secret Crush - Sheer red berry
Tender Tryst - Sheer pearly plum
Loving Touch - Sheer pearly light pink

Gel Blush -I love this sheer gel cheek blush! The texture is gel and feels almost like Jello. I'm a big fan of this one especially for the hot temperatures when my makeup slowly begins to drip and leak down my face. The gel sinks into your skin and lasts for hours and hours. I dab a bit on my lips and apply gloss on top. The color, Just a Pinch, is a flattering red pink tint.

And the last product I tested is the Beauty Powder called Summer Rose. Coincidentally, I know of a girl who named her daughter Summer Rose. But I digress. The beauty powder has a rose embossed right in it. The shade is a pinky-violet, its not overly pigmented but gives a nice subtle glow to the skin.

For all products in this collection, please jump on over to the MAC site. Also check out the MAC Collection Looks where you can see a variety of faces made up with MAC products. These faces are great for ideas in how to implement the colors in the collection.

Daily Dollfaces

Rupert Everett must be in the Witness Protection Program. Why else would he so drastically change his face?

Nicole Kidman wears what I consider to be my winter uniform- jeans, ball cap, Converse sneakers and a scarf.

I love Jon & Kate Plus 8 but I hate Kate's hair! It reminds me of a coif from an alternative band in the 1980's. Thompson Twins? The Cure? Its cute in the front then turns into porcupine quills in the back. Please, please get a new 'do!

Sunglasses indoors? Who does Zac Efron think he is, Jack Nicholson? Zac you haven't and may never reach that level of cool.

We can blame Heidi Klum's outfit on the fact she's pregnant and not thinking clearly. She's dressed more like a tween boy than a sexy supermodel.

Drew Barrymore looks very old school in this get-up. I think its a little too old, old school.

Dita Von Teese isn't in heels and dangling from a champagne glass? *gasp* Even on an off day she's still in character. Wait- I don't think she's ever NOT in character. I dig the tropical romper on the chick in the back! (not really)

I admit it- I'm going to read Tori Spelling's new book. I think I know how all these celebs "write" books. They dictate fragments of what they want to say to a writer who then copies everything down, adds in some metaphors and big words. I doubt Tori is sitting in her office, slaving away over a keyboard, thesaurus in hand.

I loooove watching The Millionaire Matchmaker. Patti is such a no-nonsense kind of woman, she's an expert in human behavior, especially where men are concerned. If I were single, I'd definitely buy her new book.

I asked my ten year old son if I should show up to school wearing Pamela Anderson's outfit (above) and he was mortified. I think his exact words were, "Hell, no!"

Screw your head back on, Lisa! I cannot believe Lisa Rinna posed nude for Playboy magazine. Although we are in a recession and maybe she needed the money. Lisa does have an amazing body, especially considering she's forty-something years old!

Kim Basinger used to be soooooo beautiful. Her skin is stretched a bit tight now. You could bounce quarters of those cheekbones.

I consider Keeping up with the Kardashians a guilty pleasure. Kim is gorgeous, she has a face like a doll. Or Jasmine from Aladdin!

Jennie Garth needs a little hair serum on the ends of that hair! Or a good haircut.

Another Drew Barrymore post. I missed Grey Gardens because I don't have HBO (I know, its sad) but I'm guessing that her look here is the same as her character in the movie? That netting is great for keeping the mosquitoes away.

KENZO Cleansing Ice Jelly

Introducing KENZO's Cleansing Ice Jelly, a cooling cleansing gel that removes dirt and oil from your skin. It's very gentle to my sensitive skin so I immediately loved it.

This cleansing product contains Ginseng extract which helps tone skin, ginger flower makes it smell delicious. You probably know that Ginseng is used in Chinese medicine to improve blood flow and help with circulation. What better ingredient to use to clean your face- the Cleansing Ice Jelly will leave you with clean, glowing skin.

I never go to bed without thoroughly cleansing my face, removing all traces of foundation, blush, concealer and all the other products I pile on. You can apply the Cleansing Ice Jelly with a cotton pad to remove your makeup/clean your face or take it in the shower like I do.

PLAY IT! Guilty Pleasures

PLAY IT and love it! Here's a game for everyone who glues themselves to E! News, The Insider or Entertainment Tonight. If you can't go to the grocery store without picking up the latest copy of US, Life & Style or STAR. I don't know who reads those things... *cough cough* If your home page is set to view People.com instead of hard hitting political news, then Guilty Pleasures is for you...and me.

Here is the official 411:

GUILTY PLEASURES tests your knowledge of TV, movies, books, music and tabloid “news” – although – you may not be willing to admit how much you know!! Do you want your friends to know that you know how far apart in age Tori Spelling’s babies are? Or that you indeed can name the first book written by the Jonas Brothers? Or that you know that Tinkerbell is Paris Hilton’s pet Chihuahua?

The game will be sold by select Urban Outfitters retailers,
Games by James , Castle Megastores, select Spencer Gifts retailers, and Calendar Club’s Go! Game Stores, as well as Kheper’s website.

Here's what you do. Get a couple bottles of wine, grab your best friends and get together for a night of fun and laughter. We love to have friends over to play games. I'm awful at cards and games involving logic but trivia games is where I excel.

Guilty Pleasures is a game that could have been designed with me in mind, its so much fun! And I always say that celebrity news is a guilty pleasure of mine. Ummm, right along with serious news of course.

Introducing...Colgate MaxWhite!

Take it with you where ever you go...the new Colgate Wisp! Fits in a purse or pocket for on-the-go tooth brushing! I think its perfect for dates, travel, and to keep with you at the office.

Call me crazy but I love brushing my teeth. And now I love it even more because I've been using the new Colgate MaxWhite with mini bright strips. It's not overwhelmingly minty but leaves my breath feeling as fresh and clean as a cold winter's day. The mini bright strips are sprinkled throughout the toothpaste and serve as little breath fresheners. The toothpaste also whitens teeth and leaves your mouth feeling minty fresh and clean. Even my eight year old loves this toothpaste. We were both so excited to try out this new paste! She actually swiped it from my bathroom.

Also noteworthy is the MaxWhite toothbrush. I'm a big fan of soft bristles after brushing for years with stiff bristles that left my gums in terrible shape (the worst surgery ever was a gum transplant!). The Colgate MaxWhite toothbrush has a cool grip handle and when you flip it over, you have the option to brush your tongue. Did you know that the tongue holds bacteria and unless you brush it off, it stays there? Fact of the day.

The exquisite Diamond Facial with Scott-Vincent Borba

My last and only facial took place six years ago. On a cruise to Alaska, I treated myself to a mini-facial. A variety of lovely eucalyptus scented potions were applied to my face by a young British girl who told me that my skin was dry. A nice experience but truthfully, I didn’t see a big difference in my skin afterwards. I wanted my face to glow, I expected to walk out looking twenty years old. Maybe twenty three. That didn’t happen.

Let me be clear- I’m not a fan of people touching my face. It took me a long time to be remotely comfortable going to the dentist. I have a friend who gets facials all the time but I rather take good care of my skin at home using anti-aging products and enforcing a strict no-sun policy. And ruthlessly extracting blackheads and pimples while scrutinizing my skin in a magnifying mirror.

When the opportunity arose for me to visit celebrity esthetician and neutraceutical genius Scott-Vincent Borba at his Woodland Hills office and under-go a HD Diamond Facial Peel, I said yes right away but secretly worried about what this would entail exactly. I imagined x-acto knives and smoking potions. I imagined myself leaving the office with angry, red, peeling skin and oversized sunglasses in the dead of night.

Scott-Vincent is in demand. His clientele is made up of celebrities who hire him to tend to their skin on movie and tv sets. Those big stars need their skin to be close-up ready at all times and he’s just the guy who can work a little magic.

Borba’s headquarters is hidden deep within Woodland Hills, a tricky spot to find. Once I arrived at the hallowed office, I breathed a huge sigh of relief. I made it! I was immediately greeted and offered some Borba water to drink while I filled out a detailed questionnaire. Then I was swept into the treatment room, where The Facial would take place. Yes I was nervous. I took stock of the utensils lined up on a silver tray. Exactly what was he going to do?

Scott- Vincent, with his glowing skin (would you expect anything less?) and model good looks, came in to greet me and explain what was going to take place. This exclusive facial combines diamond dermabrasion with a gentle peel using liquid silver, micro-diamonds and elastin fiber technology.

I was surprised and happy because the entire facial was gentle to my sensitive skin and quite relaxing. Scott-Vincent used several tools combined with technology that I wouldn’t even know the first thing about trying to explain. I’d be hard pressed to remember all that went into treating my skin.

There were currents and electrons and penetration of solutions into the skin. Scott-Vincent pointed out all my skin flaws and recommended what I could do to remedy my unfortunate breakouts and hormone related skin issues. We chatted while he transformed my skin and I wasn’t as uncomfortable or nervous as I feared.

When the facial was over, I looked in the mirror amazed at the condition of my skin; clear, clean, and glowing. The real thrill was the next day when I applied my makeup and marveled at how smooth my skin appeared. I didn’t need as much makeup as usual, my under eye circles were gone and my pores, which are usually the size of pot holes, were nearly invisible.

The mild acne dotting my chin was undetectable. Was it a miracle? No, it was an HD facial! I can see how these would become totally addicting. Today, days later, my skin is still as clear as when I had the facial and I hesitate to use anything but Borba products to keep up with my perfect skin.

the famous Scott-Vincent and me

I’ve been faithfully using the Age Defying Discovery System which includes the Age Defying Micro-Diamond Facial, Age Defying Concentrate, Orbital Eye Rejuvenator, Age Defying Wrinkle Shield SPF 15 and Age Defying Wrinkle Repair. The products are soothing to the skin and I couldn’t pick a favorite because I like them all so much.

I wish I could have the HD facials every month like a true diva. I want my skin to always look this clear! The good news is that Scott-Vincent created the HD Illuminating Plasma Crystals Diamond Dermabrasion Peel Treatment. A two step at home treatment , it consists of Silver Plasma Technology as well as micro-diamonds. Here’s how it works: first apply the Plasma Crystals to skin, then add a bit of the Plasma Activator. Let it stay on for a few minutes, massage into skin and rinse off. Skin texture is improved, pore size diminished, dead skin is sloughed off and you are left with softened, brighter skin! The HD Illuniminating Light Effects Serum brightens skin by utilizing Silver Plasma technology. Perfect for those close ups! Or trips to the grocery store and soccer games, as is the case for me.

Scott-Vincent is so smart and savvy for engineering these inside-out health/beauty products. I think of him as a pioneer in the area of neutraceuticals and skin care. He started with nothing and is building an empire which includes the Borba water, a variety of skin care products, snacks and more. I wouldn’t be surprised if one day he had multiple book deals, tv shows, and maybe Borba stores in major cities? Hmmmm.

take it in- the sweeping view from Borba's windows

Scott-Vincent is very kind, humble and the kind of person you’d be lucky to have as a friend. I always like to know if celebrities are nice, I like hearing that there are decent people in the public eye. And Scott-Vincent is one of those people who is truly nice! He does a lot of work with Covenant House, a “privately-funded agency in the Americas providing shelter and other services to homeless, runaway and throwaway youth.” A worthwhile cause.

I will continue eating my Borba Gummi Bears and drinking the Aqua-less Crystallines, using the age defying products and carefully watching what other products launch. You will find me staring at myself in the mirror, not quite believing that my skin can look this good, praying the results last for a long, long time!

The perfect French Riviera look from CHANEL

I'm thinking of sunkissed skin and sandy beaches. Bare shoulders and sunshine. I'm thinking of the Cote D'Azur Collection from CHANEL of course! The collection offers excellent summer colors, a great way to transition from chilly winter to the sizzling heat of summer.

I tried the Aqualumiere gloss- I am such a gloss lover, it's my favorite product, right up there with mascara...and a good blush...CHANEL doesn't dissappoint with their color choices. Candy Glow and Cherry Blossom make my lips look ripe, set against my bronze powdered cheeks, I don't need much more makeup other than a little mascara. I like to lighten up for summer, switching my pink blush for a bronzing powder.

The Sheer Color Lipshine lipstick gives lips not only color but sun protection with SPF 15. The pink-nude shade, Salina shimmers with a multi-facted shine.

One product that caught my eye is the nail color, Orange Fizz. This pale summery coral is beautiful, not too bright, not too light or dark. I predict its going to sell out quickly!

New and fabulous from Yves St. Laurent

Pur Gloss was given an O-Award from Oprah herself. Because the gloss is just that good! Super shine but no stickiness, no tackiness. Gorgeous colors like my favorites, Pur Rose and Pur Fuschia which I wear alone or mix together for a great shade of pink. I've long been a fan of YSL mascara and their entire line of Pur Shine lipsticks. The colors, texture, everything about these products is divine and perfect.
I expected this Automatic Easy Eyeliner to be difficult to use. I imagined I'd really have to pull my eyelid to properly apply this pen liner. But no..its like a thin paintbrush which enables you to get really close to the lashline. Color leaks out in just the right amount. It also lasts all day which I love. I apply a little eyeshadow then line my lash line with this awesome pen. Add a touch of mascara. And there you go, less than five minutes- actually, less than two, and my eyes are complete for the day.

Sarah Jessica Parker ~ The Lovely Collection

These three fragrances by Sarah Jessica Parker- Dawn, Endless, Twilight- are housed in pretty glass bottles in floral pastel colors, they go together like a set although the fragrances are different. The scents get progressively complex as day turns into night but don't fear- they aren't overly "perfumey" or too strong. Each is subtle, classy and elegant.

Start the day with Dawn, a clean scent and also my favorite! Dawn contains notes of citrus, violet, musks and vanilla. It's fresh and light, ideal for every day.

Morning gives way to the afternoon and it's time to amp up the scent. Endless is a mix of red apple, ivy leaves- stop right there, this sounds like autumn weather!-with peony, clove, chamomile. It's a little fancier than Dawn. I'd wear this to a business meeting or maybe a luncheon.

As we move into evening, the mood changes and its time for a scent that packs a more serious punch! Twilight is created from a combination of pink pepper, bergamot, jasmine, peony, sandalwood, this is a scent for a serious evening! Wear it to a fancy dinner at Nobu, a date, a night out on the town!

Jouer Cosmetics

Jouer Cosmetics comes to us from Christina Zilber who set out to design cosmetics that snap together giving beauty lovers the ability to make custom palettes. All products connect for easy transport or just to keep the products together in a neat way. What began as a small line of makeup with a huge following has blossomed into a full luxury collection of beautiful cosmetics.

The Spring collection was inspired by what Christina saw on the runways of Paris. Classic, soft and flattering colors remind me of Monet's water lilies. The shades are soft and flattering. I tried the new eye shadow colors of Chestnut Powder Eyeshadow and Peach Powder Eyeshadow, two shades that work beautifully together. I'm all about peach this season so I loved the color, the Chestnut is ideal for my blue eyes. I can apply with a wet brush to use as an eyeliner which makes color last. The finely milled powder is so soft and you only need a small amount of color.
I love lip glosses and when they are pale pink and give off a lovely shine, I'm in heaven! This Blush Moisturizing Lipgloss is one of my favorite colors. It contains vitamins A, C and E plus Pomegranate seed oil. This one's a keeper! Two thumbs up for the color, consistency and texture.

I don't wear a lot of lipsticks, not when there are so many great glosses available. But with the Kiki Hydrating Lipstick, I've changed my ways. This nude-pink lipstick is the ideal color especially with a swipe of Blush gloss over it! The lipstick is very soft and creamy and doesn't make my lips feel dry as some lipsticks do. Maybe that's because this product contains Cupuacu Butter, an ingredient from Brazil!

Also noteworthy is the Rose Pale Lip Definer, a pale pink that glides on lips creating subtle definition. The lip liner is made with jojoba oil, shea butter and vitamins A and E. This lipliner is such a great, flattering color especially when used with the lipstick and gloss I've mentioned here.
I'm so impressed with this line, both the colors available and the great consistency of the products. The fact that the products snap together is quite inventive! You can try the colors on different models and see what they look like here. I love playing around! Head over to Jouer and see all they have to offer.

Viva Las Vegas!

Just spent a couple of days in Las Vegas...Viva Las Vegas! Or as my ten year old son says, "Viva Viagra!" Yes, he watches a lot of the outdoor channel where male enhancement commercials run every five minutes.

At the cactus garden at Ethel M Chocolate Factory.

A view from the New York, New York walkway. The hotels have neat walkways so you don't have to struggle with crowds on the sidewalks.

Red Rock Canyon. I'm an indoors girl but love being outside in places like this!

The Luxor. We saw the Bodies exhibit here. I could have spent all day reading about the body parts which were in glass cases with extensive descriptions. I didn't know a uterus- or bladder- was so small.

New York, New York!

Husband and kids took off climbing and hiking while I stayed behind a few steps to take pictures.

Daily Dollfaces

I kind of like the dress and those fierce shoes! What has Jenny McCarthy been doing lately anyway?

White jeans are not a friend to everyone. Mostly they make people look like marshmallows but of course Cindy Crawford can pull off the look. Check out her son- her kids are so genetically blessed!

I like Cameron's outfit and her shoes. I always like her style. Check out the cutie in the tank top behind her!!

Rashida Jones, cute. Nicole Richie, cute with a baby bump. Samantha Ronson, making a face like she just pooped in her jeans. Why does she always make that face?

Dear Tori,
Please don't lose any more weight. You're dangling in the Teri Hatcher Skinny Zone. Now go eat at the Olive Garden. They have endless breadsticks. And you need the carbs!
Thanks!
Oh Houswives of Orange County, I've missed you! Of course the eye is drawn right to Gretchen, such a scene stealer in that boldly patterned dress!

You probably will never see Bethenny and Kelly standing next to each other and if you watch the show, you know why! I want to give Ramona a haircut and update her coif! Im thinking a blunt cut bob.

Whoa! Nicole Kidman, up close and personal! You can almost see where the botox was injected.

I like these Matthew McCongahoogy and Camile together. I'm not a fan of jeans at big events though. Or scuffed shoes. Only Johnny Depp can get away with that look!

Carrie Underwood, gorgeous. Talented. Great legs. Not fair!

Miley Cyrus...I like the dress but it needs a different shoe. Something jeweled and strappy. I would have had something hand crafted just for me!

Kellie Pickler is a mermaid with nude makeup!

Can't believe Taylor Swift is still a teenager! She's super talented and writes her own songs.

Leann Rimes is cute but I'd really like to see her with thinner and blonder bangs!

Gwen Stefani...gorgeous as always with her red lipstick!

MAC Colour Ready

Colour Ready by MAC prep your skin for cosmetics and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and flaws.

I had the opportunity to try out two products from this collection. I am always looking for ways to get rid of wrinkles, even if temporarily, or set my face with a little powder. MAC has some very noteworthy products that I am thrilled to be using. I love how MAC is always up to date with what women want. And we want tips and tricks to perfect our look!

Prep & Prime Line Filler:
Here's what MAC says- A primer used post-foundation, pre-makeup to camouflage, soften and relax expression lines and wrinkles. Applies as a dense cream: dries to a transparent, smooth, natural matte finish. With ongoing use, clinically proven to help rejuvenate your look.
I was excited and hopeful about this product although I admit, I was concerned the product would lay in my fines lines and exaggerate the wrinkles. Products like this can be prone congealing in the lines/wrinkles after an hour, but alas, those annoying lines around my eyes were indeed softened! The product is very transparent and I've been using- and loving this one for everyday wear. I dab a small amount around the outer corners of my eyes, after I moisturize- its my last step.

Prep & Prime Transparent Finishing Powder:
MAC says-A silky finishing powder that provides an invisible way to set makeup. Reduces shine while optically minimizing the look of pores, lines, imperfections. Available in one universal colour that suits all shades. Wear over makeup or on bare, moisturized skin.

I appreciate the fact that this is a "clear shade" if you can imagine such a thing. It's white but goes on invisible. I dust a small amount of this over my face, carefully blending around my hairline, nose and neck. I can't stand it when you can tell where makeup ends. You need a good brush for this one, cheap brushes won't allow you to blend the product in. But score! Another great product from MAC. The powder just gives the face a more polished, almost airbrushed look.

I've been so pleased with MAC's foundations, concealers and skin products. My favorite foundation is the Studio Sculpt spf 15. That, along with the Prep & Prime Line Filler and a sprinkle of the Finishing Powder is what I use when I'm leaving the house. When I'm home, I moisturize and lay off makeup but when I head out, I pull out all the stops!

Daily Dollfaces

I used to think Antonio Sabato was cute but here he looks like he should be slipping behind the wheel of his Camaro, rocking out to a little Vanilla Ice while he drives down the Jersey Turnpike.

Well, we know what kind of facial product Valentino uses- self tanner! He's dangling on Donald Trump Coif territory.

Don't delay, order your Chuck Norris Action Jeans now!
These just make me laugh but think of the yoga you could do in these- they dont bind the legs.

Gwyneth Paltrow and kids. The babes look like husband Chris Martin.
I think you get to a certain age and ripped jeans are just a big no-no.

Teri Hatcher's daughter is adorable!
Teri still needs to eat carbs, I want to plump her up. She's spindly and spiderly.
Gwyn and Valentino. I like the shoes but think they are a bit unflattering.

Rachel McAdams looking monochromatic and monotone. But still gorgeous.
I'd love the dress in a different color.

Scarlett's head looks like it was photoshopped on to the body and I'm disturbed by the champagne glass between her toes. Gross!

Kate Moss totally denies being pregnant despite the fact her
belly is rounded and her boobs are bigger.

Was Marc Anthony trying to look like a prep school head master? He needs his topsiders. I used to have an LL Bean robe in that exact same plaid. Jen Lopez looks hot- great dress and shoes.

Wow, eyelashes! Carmen Electra is pretty but I like her with light makeup.

Emma Roberts is just the right age to date a Jonas Bro.

Alanis, you oughtta know
we can see everything when you stand in the sun!

Naturia Dry Shampoo by Rene Furterer

I just tried the travel size of the Naturia Dry Shampoo and let me say, this is a must have! If you travel or go to the gym or simply don't have the time to wash your hair, dry shampoo like this one is the pefect solution. How often does my husband roll his eyes at me taking up time to wash and dry my hair? Too many! When I'm running late or in a time crunch or my hair needs a little refreshment, I use the dry shampoo, aimed at the roots then blasted for a second with the blow dryer. Instant improvement!

Rene Furterer's dry shampoo contains Kaolin clay, silica, rice and corn startch to absorb oils. It smells amazing, and this product also has the power to clean your hair thanks to peppermint, caraway and basil essential oils.

The travel size Naturia dry shampoo is available (May 2009) at Sephora, Sephora.com, and Beauty.com.

READ IT

I know Nadine Haobsh from our Glamour Magazine event back in October. And you might know her from her popular beauty blog, Jolie Nadine. Nadine wrote a fantastic guide to all things beauty called Beauty Confidential. And here she makes her fiction debut with Confessions of a Beauty Addict. Do you sense a theme here?

I received an advance copy of the book and read it a while back. It's a fast, fun, hip novel about a girl named Bella who loses her job at an fancy fashion magazine (think along the lines of Vogue, Elle) and must take a job at a magazine that she feels is way beneath her (think Woman's Day). How on earth will she overcome working at such a place? Bella is used to couture not homemade crafts! Complicating matters is the very good looking publisher, but what about Bella's supermodel boyfriend? You get the idea. Definitely the perfect beach book or summer read!

For more on the fantastic and chic Nadine, click here.

I was just in the mood for a light, fun novel and picked up Odd Mom Out by Jane Porter. What can I say, I really enjoyed it! Marta is a single mom who marches to the beat of her own drum to say the least. She's a Harley riding, long haired, smart, independent woman who is raising daughter Eva on her own and likes it that way. She's refuses to become someones she's not, even when her daughter begs her to be more like other moms. There's so many elements to the book and I kept flipping pages, mainly to see if Marta would dare to change even a bit, and because I wanted to know about the romance that takes place.

You might know Jane from her novel, Flirting with Forty which was made into a Lifetime movie starring Heather Locklear. I loved it- and loved that it was based on Jane's own life.

For more information on Jane and her novels, head over to her website.

I don't always watch Rachael Ray's TV shows- there's so many of them- but I really love her recipes. I picked up an issue of this magazine last summer and tore out half the magazine, the recipes were easy to make and my family enjoyed them. Because I'm trying to stay home and cook and not get take out or go out to eat, I need recipes and ideas for menus. I was so tired of my repertoire- chicken or pasta or tacos- that I started to subscribe the the magazine. This magazine is chock full of delicious things to make! I love finding new ways to prepare the old standbys of chicken, fish, pasta, salad.

Some magazines are to be read and recycled but I keep these to refer back to again and again.
Next up on my TO READ list is The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and Jodi Picoult's newest novel, Handle With Care.

Shades of Summer with Barielle

Perfect for spring and summer are these Shades by Barielle. I had never heard of Barielle and a peek on their website shows me that I've been missing a lot! There are many nail care items to suit your every need. Shades by Barielle, the full color line, offers so many colors in every imaginable shade from turquoise metallic to vivid red to white.

Shades By Barielle is introducing their new collection called Sugar Rush. I painted each nail a different color to show you how bright and pretty the colors are. I like Grape Escape and Sweet Addiction for toes, an unexpected pop of color when you wear sandals!

These sweet treats sweep onto the nails nice and opaque- you don't need three coats to achieve good color. What I love about Shades by Barielle is that there's none of the dangerous ingredients like formaldehyde or toluene. The polishes dry fast and look wet even when they are dry all because of that shine!

My daughter always wants me to paint her nails but colors I allow are limited- no black or Vamp for her. The Sugar Rush collection is perfect - all the colors are light and happy and I don't mind giving her a mani/pedi using these products. For more information, colors and products click here.

Here's to your health and beauty... Drink up!

Glowelle is a delicious nutrient packed beverage that feeds your body and skin. Glowelle contains antioxidant nutrients, botanicals and fruit extracts but no artificial sweeteners which is important to me. Glowelle comes in ready mixed or powdered form. I use the powder and all you have to do is pour the packet into water or juice, shake it up and you are good to go.

I make smoothies out of the packets, blending cranberry juice, strawberries and ice for a nutrient rich treat in the afternoon. You can add orange juice, or yogurt, mixed berries, cherries, and blend well to create special treat that is super healthy. Even my kids like Glowelle! Glowelle feeds the body and skin from the inside out, perking up dull, tired skin. Its delicious and its good for you, a very important combination!

I've been drinking the Raspberry/Jasmine flavor pictured above. It contains Antioxidant-rich vitamin A, C and E with goji berries, green and white tea extracts. You can't beat that! My skin is smooth and clear and I know I'm getting lots of nutrients by drinking it. For more information click here.

healthDropz are conveniently packaged in a tube the size of lipstick. You simply add a few drops to your water to get loads of benefits. healthDropz comes in a few different varieties- Energy, Focus and Green Tea. They contain a concentrated mix of vitamins, herbs and natural ingredients.

The other day I was so tired in the afternoon so I added a couple drops of the Energy formula to my water and I was wide awake into the night. I've been using the Focus drops since I feel like I'm walking in a cloud. You only need six little drops to reap the benefits.

Here are some details you need to know:

Energy drops do not contain sugar but do have tiny bits of caffiene, amino acid taruine and B vitamins.

Focus drops give you B6 along with other nutrients that help you snap to attention.

Green Tea provides you with the anti-oxidants found in green tea in concentrated drops. Instead of drinking six cups of green tea, add these drops into your water or tea for maximum benefits.

What I like about the drops is that they are virtually flavorless and mix instantly. I've been adding them to my bottled water for an instant elixir! For more information or to order, click here. These are great to have on hand for when you're feeling sluggish. I think I need a steady drip of Energy drops when I get up in the morning!

My post wouldn't be complete with out mentioning Scott- Vincent Borba. He created all kinds of interesting beautifying products like the Crystalline packets. You add the packets to water, shake it up and make what I call a "beauty drink".

I love drinking my water when I add some of Borba's Aqua-less Crystallines. They come in different flavors and address different skin issues like Acai Berry /Age Defying, Clarifying/Pomegranate, Guanabana/Skin Firming, and Lychee Fruit/Replenishing. You can buy the packets and add water or buy the already mixed waters which are superb! I love the Lychee flavor. In the summer, you could freeze the drinks and eat them as popsicles or make ice cubes to drop in your water.

Also noteworthy and beyond delicious is the Gummy Bears which I've mentioned before. I was eating these like candy a while back and my skin looked terrific. It's time for me to replenish my stash! For more on Borba's empire of beauty water and more, click here.
